Making things with fabric

Okay so I got the new fabric that Stampin' Up! carries now and I asked some friends that sew what they thought about the material. They said it was very nice quality fabric. Good. (I wouldn't know because I don't sew or make quilts or do any of that stuff).

Well the fabric comes with a booklet with ideas for projects to make with the fabric. A Christmas Stocking is one idea. I was thinking about making a pillow until my friend came over today and showed me a very cute Alabama purse she made with Houndstooth.  She said it was super easy to make. So I went to YouTube and found Chic-n-scratch videos about the Savannah Purse. There are four of them. I watched them and figured I could make one with the Candy Cane Christmas design.

Lookie at what I did tonight all by myself. LOL.

I'm so proud of it. I did make the liner a bit too small. I really didn't measure anything. I like to eyeball it. LOL.

Okay here's how I got the butterflies on there. Soooo easy.

I first took the fabric I wanted and cut it into squares and ironed on the Big Shot Fabric adhesive to the back.

Then I die cut it in the Big Shot using the Butterflies die that is Exclusive to Stampin' Up!

Then I laid the butterflies randomly until I liked the way it looked. Then I pealed the adhesive backing off and ironed the fabric butterflies where I wanted them. Easy Peasy. LOL. Even for me. :)

I did use some retired Baja Breeze Ribbon that I horded when it was retiring a couple years ago. I'm glad I did. They brought back that color and now I have lots of accessories I can use again. (Well technically I shouldn't but who can resist when it's so cute and matches perfectly!)

Okay well my hubby is coming home tonight so I'm going to straighten up before he gets here. I've missed him a lot. He went to Colorado to visit his cousin. I'm glad he got to go but I'm very glad he's coming back. Life isn't the same without him.

I'm thinking that this purse would make a great demonstration at a workshop next month. Let me know if you are interested in learning how to make it.
