I'm back! Update on my life and the new Ornament Kit from Stampin Up!

Image
It has been too long since I updated my blog. I guess I should explain what has been happening in my life. I found out in July that my brother was sick. Very sick. I was worried about him and whether I should fly out to see him and my family. September came and I found out he was in the hospital and they were giving him a year to live. I was waiting to hear more about his condition from family and then in October we found out he only had days to live. I was heartbroken. I was able to talk to my brother before he passed away on Oct. 11. He sounded like he was at peace and told me he was ready. I did fly out for the funeral and spent a week with family and reuniting with extended family as well. One of the highlights was meeting my great nephew for the first time. He is quite the handful but sooo cute. I was also able to attend my great nieces 10th birthday party. I really got to know her and her sister better and felt so blessed that I could be there. They are growing up too fast! Now

Thank you card using Stampin Up table setting kit

Image
Okay, I really like this kit. It's actually amazing. Because I can make cards, scrapbooks and display cards for food. But really what I love most about this kit is the paper bark. Love the texture of it. Here's a card I made with it. The leaves are already die cut for you. I think that houndstooth paper is perfect for fall. I did add some Pool Party Cardstock to this because I love the color combo. Plus our burlap ribbon is so easy to use on projects. I'll post the scrapbook page I made later. I need to get some shut eye. Thanks for looking. If you have any questions let me know. Oh and here's the item numbers to help you order the stuff you need. 133463    Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit 132140    1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon

Some Punch art: Monsters Inc.

Image
Made this cute card for my friend's daughter. She had a Monsters Inc. Birthday Party. I thought it did come out good if I do say so myself. I did have to do a little cutting with scissors to make the shape right. But for the most part I just used punches. Oval punch, corner punch, circles, word window, heart punch, and of course did some sponging. Thanks for looking!

Masculine Cards

Image
Do you have a hard time coming up with masculine cards? Stampin' Up! has several sets that work great for guy cards. Here's two cards I made using Stampin' Up!   Sets I used are Open Sea and By the Tide. I also used some embossing folders to make the wood piece and added bakers twine to give more dimension.   Oh I really like the new chalk technique. Stamp on Basic Black cardstock with Whisper White ink. Smear a little across the cardstock and it looks like a chalk board.   Email if you want to order the supplies to make this.

Father's Day Banner using Paper Pumpkin Kit

Image
If you have signed up for Paper Pumpkin by Stampin' Up! then you got the kit to make the journal.   Instead of a journal though I made a banner for Father's Day.     I die cut the letters from the chipboard cover and then embossed with Pool Party Embossing Powder. I also printed up a few pictures to add behind some of the thick stickers that come with the kit.   Make sure you sign up for Paper Pumpkin so you don't miss out on more fun projects using the monthly kits. Each month is different.   Thanks for looking.   By the way, just entered this project to a new blog I found that's all about Paper Pumpkin ideas. Check it out by clicking the image below.

Wedding Card Pop Up Dress by Stampin' Up!

Image
June is the month for weddings and I made this adorable card using the Pop Up Dress die by Stampin' Up!   I had to figure out how to add some designer paper to the background on the inside of the card so I turned it over and used a pencil to lightly emboss the lines where I would have to cut. Then I added some darker cardstock (the new Baked Brown Sugar) for the table.   I wanted the dress to stand out so I covered it in ribbon and added some pearl accents. Find them on page 171 in the catalog. 119247   $4.95 I even decorated the front, keeping it simple so that the happy couple would be surprised by the inside. If you have any questions let me know! Thanks for looking!

Pop Up Dress Birthday Card

Image
My neighbor asked me to make a card for her friend today. She's turning 50 so of course it had to be something special. I asked her a few questions and if her friend likes blues or pinks or what. She didn't want a black and white card. Or over the hill. So I asked if pinks and spring colors would be good. She said yes. At first I was thinking flowers but when I did a little research online I saw the Pop Up Dress framelets being used on a few birthday cards and they looked so pretty I thought, "That's It!" Here's what I came up with. Some of the paper is retired but I used More Amore Specialty DSP 129309 from the mini catalog along with the Artisan embellishment kit 129328.  I cut out the dress form and then wrapped the ribbon around it and added one of the flowers from the flower trim ribbon. Love that stuff! I hope Stampin' Up! keeps it around. I use it a lot! While outside watering some plants I notice my azalea b

Easter Card and gifts using Stampin Up

Image
I really like how these treats turned out.I used the two tags die for the base, punched a hole for the ribbon, attached some Designer Series Paper and then used a glue dot for the chocolate bunny. The stamp is an older stamp that retired but you could use any stamp you have that says Happy Easter. I also used some of the new flower ribbon on these by cutting off one flower and attaching it with a glue dot. Description: Vintage dimensional flowers on strips of tulle. Approx. 5/8" wide. 2 yds. Vanilla. 126869  6.95 You can even color the flowers if you want. Check out this video I found on YouTube. You can skip to minute 4 for the coloring process. I also made this cute shaker card for my class last month.  We used the shaker frames 124155 to make the frame around the bunny. The stamp set is:  A Little Bit Of Spring Clear-Mount Stamp Set 126011 Price : $23.95 I may make a quick step by step for this card to post online. Let me know if you would

My Annie Sloan Cabinets

Image
Did you get a chance to see my new cabinets? I used the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - Provence. I can show you step by step if you want. I just have been busy lately. I did use the dark wax and the clear wax on these. I still need to add the knobs I got from Hobby Lobby. (I'll get to it soon.) I did have the counter cleared off so it was a perfect time to take a picture. Thanks for stopping by today. Jackie

Watch Karen's Video on Stampin' Up! Pop Up Dress Die

They say a picture is worth a thousand words but what about a video? LOL. Here's Karen showing how to use the new dies from the Spring Catalog along with the stamp set All Dressed Up. Page 32. Visit her blog to see more samples. The Queen of Hearts is to die for.  Have a great day! Jackie

Easy Valentine Treats

Image
I really love this time of year. Love is in the air and there's so many fun ideas to try with making Valentine's. My girls and I make our Valentines every year and their classes are quite big. So whatever it is we make has to be EASY. I came up with this cute treat holder. This "box" is made with the two tags die 115954 21.95. You can even fold the cardstock in half and make two tags at once. I wouldn't do more than two layers since there's a score line and the thickness can make it cut instead of score. Adhere the two tags together like this: I used snail because it's quicker and it's for kids at school. (They may not keep this cute box forever. LOL).  But you could use sticky strip for a better hold. Next you stamp the whale with Pool Party Ink, cut it out with the clearlet, draw cute eyelashes and a mouth, then add a bow with our bakers twine. I did sponge a little on the box and whale image. How do you store your spon

Masking Technique using By The Tide

Image
Here's a step by step on making the By The Tide card. By The Tide stamp set: 129120 Start with two post it notes and tear them in half. Attach them to the base (4" x 5 1/4") Get all your stamps attached to the clear blocks. This saves you time later when you are stamping a bunch of these cards so you don't have to keep attaching and removing them from one block. I love Stampin' Up! Ink Pads!!!  Make sure you start with the lightest color first just in case the color doesn't dry before you stamp the next image.  Leave your stamps on top of the ink pad so they are ready to use again and you won't get confused about which image is stamped with which color. I hate it when I accidentally stamp a dark color on a light color ink pad. Not pretty.  After all the images are stamped you are ready for the next part. SPONGING! If you have been to one of my classes you know you will be sponging and you will
