So a while back my friend Martha showed me an amazing book created by her friend's daughter, Julie. This book was all made from scratch using cardstock, designer paper and scor tape. So Martha wanted to learn how to make this book. I took a look at it and really wasn't sure how it was made. I knew it was made with love and lots of attention to detail. A few month's later Martha calls me up to say that Julie is in town and would be willing to teach us how to make the scrapbook. I said I would be there. I love surprises! My Paper Pumpkin is my monthly surprise that I give myself. Every month my red box shows up in the mail and I can't wait to open it and see what's inside. May's kit didn't disappoint. I love the amazing designs, colors, embellishments, stamps, ink, envelopes and printed paper. I admit that a few of the past Paper Pumpkins left me wondering what was going on with this kit. It's suppose to be a showcase of Stampin' Up! products. I made a stamp for a lady who needed the word HOPE in a certain size. I was glad that Stampin' Up! carries a new carving kit to make your own stamps. It has been too long since I updated my blog. I guess I should explain what has been happening in my life. I found out in July that my brother was sick. Very sick. I was worried about him and whether I should fly out to see him and my family. September came and I found out he was in the hospital and they were giving him a year to live. I was waiting to hear more about his condition from family and then in October we found out he only had days to live. I was heartbroken. I was able to talk to my brother before he passed away on Oct. 11. He sounded like he was at peace and told me he was ready. I did fly out for the funeral and spent a week with family and reuniting with extended family as well. One of the highlights was meeting my great nephew for the first time. He is quite the handful but sooo cute. I was also able to attend my great nieces 10th birthday party. I really got to know her and her sister better and felt so blessed that I could be there. They are growing up too fast! Now...

If you have signed up for Paper Pumpkin by Stampin' Up! then you got the kit to make the journal.   Instead of a journal though I made a banner for Father's Day.     I die cut the letters from the chipboard cover and then embossed with Pool Party Embossing Powder. I saw this kit in the mini catalog and thought it would be perfect for scrapbooking. Of course the first thing I use it on is a card. LOL. I guess I can't help it. Card making is in my blood now. I like how the pool party button goes with the new ribbon from the sale-a-bration catalog. Buttons are great for embellishing cards and scrapbooks. But did you see those doilies? Especially the heart shaped one. Plus there's cute die cut "tags" and tickets you can use. Everything coordinates with Stampin' Up! colors. The card above is made with Natural Composition Specialty Paper. I used some bleach to lighten up the flowers. The paper is already embossed so all you need to do is pick part of the paper you like, bleach it and attach it to the card. Easy.
