Masking Technique using By The Tide

Here's a step by step on making the By The Tide card. By The Tide stamp set: 129120

Start with two post it notes and tear them in half.

Attach them to the base (4" x 5 1/4")

Get all your stamps attached to the clear blocks. This saves you time later when you are stamping a bunch of these cards so you don't have to keep attaching and removing them from one block.

I love Stampin' Up! Ink Pads!!!

Make sure you start with the lightest color first just in case the color doesn't dry before you stamp the next image.

Leave your stamps on top of the ink pad so they are ready to use again and you won't get confused about which image is stamped with which color. I hate it when I accidentally stamp a dark color on a light color ink pad. Not pretty.

After all the images are stamped you are ready for the next part. SPONGING! If you have been to one of my classes you know you will be sponging and you will have ink on your fingers. LOL.

Apply the ink liberally along the edge of the post it note. Randomly apply all over the rest of the card.

 Remove the post it notes.

Stamp a sentiment. OOPS!!! I messed up! But wait! This is stamping and there are no mistakes in stamping.
(I know this looks bad right?) Blurred and annoying line from edge of stamp. Yuck!

Problem solved! Just stamp on another piece of paper and punch it out.Cover up your "mistake" and make your card even more awesome! I used the Decorative Label Punch  120907   16.95.

This is a tip I show my customers when they come to my classes. Don't waste ribbon by tying it completely around the card. Instead tie your ribbon in a loop with a square knot. Cut off the end with scissors. Then figure out where you want the knot on the card and cut the loop so that it lays straight.

Attach the ends to the back of the cardstock to make it appear to go all the way around.

Here's your finished card with some pearl embellishments.  119247   4.95

I hope you have enjoyed this step by step tutorial on masking with some extra tips for making stamping easier.

MDS and personalized Thank You cards

Do you love to do traditional hand stamped cards? Do you like making 50 of them? Well I like creating a card to send to friends and family but I don't always like to make a bunch of the same card. MDS makes it really easy for me to design a beautiful card that I can customize for the individual easily. I can also add some traditional stamping after printing it if I want.

Here's the MDS card I made for a thank you card to Amanda's Birthday. (Not sent yet). LOL. My plan is to put a picture of each child in the box so they'll have a picture of themselves from the party.

I downloaded this awesome chalkboard paper with cute scrolls and designs in it. I also had this neat looking tape accessory that went nicely with the theme. MDS can change any photo to sepia so this was actually a full color photo I took.

If you think you might want to try MDS there's a free 30 day trial on the website. www.mydigitalstudio.net
Make sure you pick me as your demonstrator.

Here's a few pictures from the party I thought I'd share with you.

Parties are so much fun! I really love making the decorations and planning the games. We had a bunch of rubber snakes so we played a game with them trying to get them in the boot.

The banner is made with the two tags die 115954  $21.95. Amanda's favorite color is Turquoise. So of course I used Tempting Turquoise and Baja Breeze to create some of the decorations.

Thank you for looking. If you like what you see leave me a comment. :)

Artisan Embellishments are perfect for any project

I saw this kit in the mini catalog and thought it would be perfect for scrapbooking. Of course the first thing I use it on is a card. LOL. I guess I can't help it. Card making is in my blood now.

I like how the pool party button goes with the new ribbon from the sale-a-bration catalog. Buttons are great for embellishing cards and scrapbooks. But did you see those doilies? Especially the heart shaped one. Plus there's cute die cut "tags" and tickets you can use. Everything coordinates with Stampin' Up! colors.

The card above is made with Natural Composition Specialty Paper. I used some bleach to lighten up the flowers. The paper is already embossed so all you need to do is pick part of the paper you like, bleach it and attach it to the card. Easy.

Stamp set: Oh Hello      130733  Clear   18.95

By the Tide Birthday

I finally put this stamp set together. I knew I needed it the minute I saw it in the Mini Catalog. I have seen so many beautiful cards made with it but of course had to change up what I saw to make it my own. What do you think of this?

This card uses Summer Starfruit, Pool Party, Old Olive, Midnight Muse, Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze.

The stamp set is called By The Tide    129120 (clear)  19.95 and you can actually make this card on Wednesday with me. Make 10 cards with envelops for just $20 or a $30 order.

Here's a step by step for this card:  Click Here

Looking forward to it.

Happy New Year

I'm off to Leadership soon but wanted to say Happy New Year! Lots of great new products in the catalog and I've been busy making swaps to take to Convention so I can have new ideas to bring back.

I got an iPad for Christmas (Santa was good!) so hopefully I can update my blog from it. I will try to post what I can here but make sure to follow me on Facebook so you can have instant updates.

It's Stampin' Up!'s 25th anniversary. I can't believe how long they've been around and I only found out about them 6 years ago. I'm glad I did find out about them though because I LOVE stamps!!!

I'll be ready for new classes this month starting on the 15th. I'll be doing a bleaching technique. Can't wait to show you!

Then I'll be starting classes in Foley. This is so my snowbird friends can come to classes without having to drive an hour to see me. I'll post those on my website. Check out the events page.

Plus my downline and I are planning a new Valentine Projects class in February. Stay tuned for pictures of projects.

God is good and I can't wait to see what He has in store for us. Stamping, scrapbooking, sewing, creating. Email me projects you have made so I can see your creations.

That's it for now. I'll see if I can post pictures of cards later.

Have a blessed New Year!
